After passing through a series of certifications and with constant leaks, Xiaomi finally decides to reveal the official launch date of the new intermediate models, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus: December 7th! The Chinese manufacturer unveiled the invitation in its account in the social network Weibo and still came to confirm some characteristics of the smartphones.
In addition to the 18: 9 ratio screen, Xiaomi revealed that both smartphones will have a 4,000 mAh battery and “soft selfie”. As you can see in the image above, the company is definitely not calling to keep the design secret, since the smartphone appears 12 times in different positions.

Regarding the Redmi 5 is expected to arrive with 5.7-inch screen HD + resolution (1440 x 720p), Snapdragon 450 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM. The rear camera could be 12 MP with 5 MP front, but this is still uncertain.
The Redmi 5 Plus is suspected of having a larger 6-inch screen with FullHD + (2160 x 1080p) resolution, a Snapdragon 625 processor that excels in battery management and performance. It is likely that it will also come with 3 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM and a more powerful variant of 4 GB + 64 GB. Both models will arrive with Android 7 customized by Xiaomi’s own interface, MIUI 9.
Regarding prices, the manufacturer can launch the best cost-effective of all time! Rumors indicate that the Redmi 5 will cost, in its cheapest model, 699 Yuan ( approximately Rs 6899), Redmi 5 Plus will have two versions for the different amounts of RAM and ROM:
- 3 GB + 32 GB: 799 Yuan (~ Rs 7799)
- 4GB + 64GB: 999 Yuan (~ Rs 9750)
